FDA Compliant Blagdon Pumps
FDA compliant pumps are manufactured in accordance with the CFR Title 21 regulations issued by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). These regulations specify the types of pump materials required for these parts that come into contact with pumped liquids. Applications of FDA compliant pumps are usually in the food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.
- • They should be capable of moving liquids at highly variable rates from very slow to rapid
- • The pumps must evacuate food ingredients from mixer containers
- • Transfer food ingredients between containers and mixing kettles
- • Repackage fluids from their original holders, mixing kettles or any other stage in the processing procedure
Some examples of fluids under move are:
- • Fruit juice and vegetable concentrates
- • Tomato pastes and other toppings
- • Wines and spirits
- • Oils and vinegars
- • Alcohols, mineral oils, lanolins, glycols, syrups
- • Chocolate, uncooked cakes and pudding mixtures
The Blagdon FDA compliant pump series is manufactured in electro polished AISI 316 stainless steel as is used for speciality applications in the food, beverage and cosmetics industry. It is a lubricant free, self priming pump with a range of connections. Other specifications are:
- • Working pressure up to 8.6 bar
- • Maximum pumped fluid rate of 530 litres per minute
- • Components also manufactured in FDA compliant elastomers such as EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene)
The Husky 1590 Series of FDA compliant sanitary pumps can come manufactured in either AISI 316 stainless steel or in an aluminium centre section. These pumps have components such as diaphragms, seats and ball bearings available in FDA compliant elastomers.
