Grundfos SP submersible borehole pumps are high efficiency pumps made from corrosion resistant stainless steel. Extra high grade stainless steel pumps are available for very aggressive liquids or extreme operating conditions. They are ideal for a variety of applications such as:
- rainwater supply - pressure boosting - irrigation and dewatering - groundwater supply to waterworks - Groundwater lowering and a range of industrial applications.
The pumps come in three main models:
- SP - SPA - SP-G
Each of these has a further large range of models in 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12-inch diameters. There are variable flow rates up to a maximum of 475 cubic metres per hour and heads of up to 670 metres.
These pumps are built to provide optimum efficiency during periods of high demand. They are also resistant to sand and other abrasives. The SP range is designed to flush out the suspended particles from the pump and pump liquid. This is a necessary feature as all groundwater contains abrasives that eventually can wear out the pump.
There is also an option of pumps with all rubber parts made of Viton. This option is suitable for handling water with oil or other contaminants.
The SP pumps use Grundfos MS and MMS motors. These motors are made entirely of stainless steel and come in sizes ranging from 4 to 12 inches. Canned submersible motors are available in sizes up to 30 watts while the rewindable motors range up to 250 kilowatts. Grundfos designers have paid special attention to the cable drop. Too small a cable on the pump will reduce motor efficiency and cause its overheating.
A complete monitoring and control system is available so that the pumping systems can be constantly optimised. The CU 3 control unit monitors the pump, motor and borehole performance using a handheld R100 remote control. This device will also provide online communication of vital motor and pump data to a PC tool or SCADA monitoring system.
